Towards the Megalith - Disma, 2011

Wow. This album is awesome. Craig Pillard is one of my favorite vocalists to ever grace death metal. They sound so evil and infernal. Towards The Megalith captures the essence of pure death metal (just like any other project Craig Pillard does vocals on). The atmosphere of this album is cavernous and bleak and feels like a true callback to the early 90s death metal that we all know and love.

I love the production of this album. It’s murky but clear enough to be able to hear all the intricate layers while being raw enough to sustain that crypt-dwelling authenticity. I was hooked on my first listen.

In an era where a lot of death metal is super technical, superficial and overproduced, this feels like a breath of fresh air. What a great gem from 2011. This goes without saying but if you’re a fan of Incantation, you’ll love this.

I cannot wait to see these guys at MT. Craig Pillard is the GOAT !
